CASE STUDIES
Providing Usage Recommendations and Predicting Student Achievement for an EdTech Product
Large-scale learning analytics study providing highly sought after usage recommendations of an EdTech product. Additionally, examined whether student data predictors (e.g., quiz scores, writing scores from an EdTech product) predicted achievement and growth on a national test.
Tools: R, SQL, Data Manipulation & Analysis, Statistical Analyses, Data Visualization, Research Communication & Presentations
Exploring User Preferences for Printed Articles on an EdTech Platform
Using SQL, query a large database to obtain data and answer questions about the type of users who choose to print articles from a digital content platform rather than assigning articles directly on the website.
Tools: SQL, Data Manipulation & Analysis, Data Visualization, Research Communication & Presentations
Motivating Health Behavior Change by Creating Functional Support Groups
Provide a blueprint for a program that will enable social connection and improved health management for patients with chronic health conditions.
Tools: Qualitative Methods (Interviewing), Literature Reviews, Co-creating, Ideation, Design, Reporting and Presentations
Virtual Lab Implementation Model Predicts STEM Future Plans
A mixed-method approach (one-on-one interviews, surveys, usage data) was utilized to examine college instructors' use of a virtual lab simulation library, students' perceptions of the simulations on their learning and future STEM plans, as well as data from the library to explore patterns of lab use and quiz scores.
Tools: Survey Design & Analysis, Interviews, Infographics, Research Communication and Presentations
Mixed-method Approaches to Examining EdTech Product Implementation
Using both qualitative (observations, focus groups) and quantitative (surveys, statistical analyses) methodologies, data were collected from a range of users including teachers and students on how an EdTech product was being implemented in Middle School classrooms in the US.
Tools: Classroom observations, Focus Groups, Survey Design & Analysis, Data Visualization, Infographics, Internal Research Communication & Presentations
Impact of a One-on-one Kindergarten Tutoring Program on Reading Growth
Using large-scale data obtained from 7 schools implementing a one-on-one Kindergarten tutoring program, quantitative analyses were conducted to evaluate the impact on students’ reading growth.
